Amanda Bossard, fresh out of Anchorage High School in 1992 started studying marine biology in 1992. Bossard began her professional career in the commercial seafood industry in 1999 when she began working on board the F/V Sunset 65' halibut schooner that has been a salmon tender for Murat Aritan. She has been a commercial fisherman since 1993. Bossard was married to Aritan in 1999, and the pair have come together in fighting for their company. Both are advocates of preserving sustainable and renewable seafood resources. Otolith has opened its market direct wholesale distributor in Philadelphia after Bossard came back from her home home with her two daughters, Bella 3 years old and Andre 1, and Andre 1, to Philadelphia. The couple is separated by 5 months and more for her to focus on her financial goals and the environment. Bossard along with her two children Andre 10 and Isabella 12 return every year to Southeast Alaska as deckhands to collect wild salmon in the summer. In a small 42 salmon troller using hooks and lines to catch their targeted salmon, they are joined by Aritan during two consecutive months of selling to local processors. They also continue to grow their direct market seafood items sold via Otolith Sustainable Seafood by way buying the customized processing services of small processors to create unique wild-caught seafood that reflects their commitment to quality and environmental sustainability.
